OUR PARTNERSHIP

SAINT-GOBAIN

partner with ADRA, North Wales’ largest Housing Association to deliver retrofit skills to local communities in North Wales.

Saint-Gobain UK have partnered with North Wales’ largest housing association, Adra, and Tŷ Gwyrddfai, the first decarbonisation hub in the UK, to help deliver the essential skills needed for sustainable new construction and whole house retrofit.

The partnership also brings together Adra, North Wales’ largest Housing Association, Bangor University and CIST, Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, the regions largest group of further and higher education colleges and universities.

Tackling the crucial skills needed for sustainable construction and whole house retrofit

As part of the partnership a new training hub has been set-up to focus on delivering high-quality, recognised qualifications and apprenticeships in construction solutions and skills. These qualifications and skills will be delivered to college students and tradespeople in North Wales and beyond, and are essential to undertake high quality housing retrofit.

Retrofitting existing homes to make them warmer, less expensive to heat and improve the comfort and wellbeing of residents is a shared priority for both Saint-Gobain and Tŷ Gwyrddfai. Adra also share the desire to engage with local tradespeople to support the transformation of homes in the local community, and has over 7000 houses in its housing association to maintain and retrofit, as well as its own workforce ready to be upskilled to complete this task.

Together, through the partnership, recognised apprenticeships will be delivered amongst other qualifications that are focussed on specific measures essential for retrofitting homes including the installation of External and Internal Wall Insulation and loft insulation measures.

“Saint-Gobain is very pleased to embark on this construction and retrofit skills-focussed partnership with Tŷ Gwyrddfai. Saint-Gobain has a long-standing commitment to providing high-quality construction training. Whether throughout our network of seven training academies, our 50+ college and school partnerships or our long-standing work with Barnardo’s and Youthbuild; providing skills and qualifications so people can deliver construction solutions to buildings delivers huge benefit to people, businesses and society at large. We’re very proud to extend this work through this new partnership in north Wales with a great decarbonisation project – Tŷ Gwyrddfai.”
